Berry Birdhouse
Description:
Recently, my family and I took a trip and during our drive we happened to stop by an Apple (the fruit not the phone) store that sold all kinds of apple themed goods. While we were there my grandpa and I spotted these tiny birdhouses that we loved. My grandpa has always loved birdhouses, so for this hackathon I attempted to build one of the birdhouses at the store. Another reason I made this birdhouse was to see the process of how to make it as I was contemplating manufacturing these for an entrepreneurship class. As you may be able to tell by the picture, the birdhouse is quite simple as it was made with a board of scrap wood. Since Berry College like to use blue in a lot of its material, I decided to paint the main body with a Berry blue color and paint the roof with a lighter blue. This project was meaningful to me as I love hands on projects like woodworking, even if I am not that good at it.  This project also allowed me to make something that I know my grandpa will love and will help stengthen our already close bond.
Steps:
Step 1: The first step included gathering all necessary materials for the project, such as the wood, my tool kit, wood glue, nails, etc.
Step 2: The second step involved me measuring and cutting the various pieces needed to make the bird house. I used a table saw, panel saw, and chop saw to cut these pieces. By the time I was done with this step I had a total of 7 pieces.

Step 3: Step 3 involved using a sanding tool to make each of the wooden pieces smooth and safer to work with.
Step 4: Now that all the pieces needed to make the birdhouse were prepared, I then proceed to wood glue each of the pieces together and then screwing the pieces to hold the birdhouse together while the wood glue dried. I started of by attaching the front and back of the birdhouse to the base. I then glue the left and right sides to the base. Finally I attached the two roof panels to the top of the birdhouse to finish the structure.
Step 5: For the final step I painted the bird house using two different shades of blue that were similar to the Berry College blue. I started off by painting the base with a darker shade and then finished the birdhouse by painting the roof with a lighter shade of blue.
